Born in 1937 in Budapest, Hungary.

Graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts.

Nelly Vágó was the most acknowledged costume designer and named as the Grande Dame of Theater and Film spectacle. She has been designed more than 1000 plays; Operas, Operettas, Ballets, Musicals and Dramas from the world’s greatest writers. In 1991 she became the head costume designer of the Hungarian State Opera House.

Nelly Vágó received the most valuable art awards during her life, the historical drama film called Hanussen by István Szabó has been nominated on European & Cannes Film Festivals, Golden Globe & Oscar Academy Awards; Sindbad by Zoltán Huszárik became the most iconic art film of the Hungarian cinema; She has been honored also by the most prestigious cultural award in Hungary The Kossuth Prize.

Nelly Vágó was often invited by national theatres, musical and open air theatres but also by the most wellknown Theaters & Opera houses in Europe as: Staatsoper Wien, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper, Stuttgart Summer Opera Festival, Oper Graz, Tbilisi Georgia, Paris France.
